  • The location of the hotel is excellent. It's very close to Shaanxi South Road Station of Metro Line 2. The room was clean and the service was good. The price is moderate. In addition, parking is not very convenient. There are not enough parking spaces in the parking lot.Deluxe Room

Travelogue

  • Efficiency of an old business hotel on Huaihai Road

This time, our clients were in the Xintiandi area. When we booked a room, we didn't choose a new style hotel, but Mason Hotel Shanghai at 935 Huaihai Middle Road, Huangpu District. The Samsung Business Hotel, which opened in 2000 and was renovated in 2015, has 115 rooms arranged around a four story atrium. It is about one or two hundred meters away from Shaanxi South Road Subway Station and intersects with Line 1/10/12/13. There is no need to transfer when coming from Hongqiao. It is 2.2 kilometers away from People's Square and 3.7 kilometers away from the Bund, making it a typical "core area of Huaihai Road" station.
Arriving almost 9pm, the door face was not big, but when I opened it, I found an empty courtyard with natural lighting, and the sense of order of the old hotel stood first. The front desk is available 24 hours a day, and the electronic ID card can be processed in three minutes. I was able to extend my check-out until 2:00 pm, which is very friendly to business travelers on the high-speed train in the afternoon. It also reminded me that "the first round of mini bar cola and Sprite is free".
I live in a deluxe king size bed, about 20-32 square meters, with a wooden tone that leans towards the stability of "old Shanghai business". The hardware does have a sense of age: the air conditioning is slightly cool, the shower water volume is average, but it is maintained online - the linen is clean, the smart toilet seat, the small refrigerator, the safe, the ironing equipment is complete, the Wi Fi is stable, and the video conference is not lagging. After closing the window, the corridor and road noise can be basically suppressed, which is acceptable for light sleepers. A guest joked that the single room was "like a lonely novelist's room". For a scene like mine that requires temporary PPT changes, a desk, a desk lamp, and two different heights of pillows are just right.
The real decision to turn back is the business support. The hotel has 4 conference rooms, with a maximum area of 110 square meters and a capacity of 80-120 people. They are equipped with LED, projection, Polycom multi-party telephone, sign in desk, etc., and can be used for small and medium-sized customer discussions and team reviews; The first floor business center provides fax, photocopying, ticketing, car rental, foreign currency exchange, and the front desk can arrange car hailing services. There is a free gym on the 4th floor, and the top floor restaurant serves both Chinese and Western breakfast. Even if you are too lazy to walk far, you can still enjoy a meal; Free parking is considered a scarce resource in the highly valuable Huaihai Road area.
Going downstairs is about efficiency: IAPM, ParknShop, Paris Spring are close to you, while Subway, Benbang Xiaoguan, and Xiaoyang Shengjian are within walking distance. Customers can reduce their meals temporarily without taking a taxi. Line 1 can be reached at the intersection of Shaanxi South Road after passing the traffic lights, even on rainy days.
To be honest: the lobby is compact, some room types are relatively tight, and the sound insulation is average compared to the old building. If you have a strong desire for "new hardware", you can take a detour; Wi Fi needs to be re logged, it is recommended to have the front desk bind it all at once.
The most profound feeling after two nights at Mason Hotel Shanghai is' controllability '- changing schedules, extending check-out, customers arriving at the hotel on short notice, rushing for materials late at night, and the front desk and concierge smoothly catching up. For business travel, the three in one certainty of "subway+conference room+Huaihai Road commercial district" is more expensive than design sense. If you still have a short trip from Huangpu to Jing'an during your next visit to Shanghai, you are likely to return to this old European style building.Show more

  • The old times in the middle section of Huaihai Road

Before coming to Shanghai, I looked through reviews and my expectation for Mason Hotel Shanghaiwas that it was a "classic three-star hotel with location as its king". However, when I actually stayed there, I realized that it gave me more emotional value than I had imagined. The hotel is located at No. 935, Huaihai Middle Road, Huangpu District. It was opened in 2000 and renovated in 2019. 115 guest rooms are lined up around the four floor atrium, less than 100 meters away from the Shaanxi South Road subway station. Line 1/10/12/13 meets four lines, 1.4 kilometers to Xintiandi, 2.2 kilometers to People's Square, and 3.7 kilometers to the Bund. It is a typical "core area of Huaihai Road" station.
On the day of arrival, I came from Hongqiao and took the subway directly to Exit 1 of Shaanxi South Road Station on Line 1. When I looked up, I saw the entrance with a European style appearance. It was not large in size, but when I pushed the door into the lobby, it suddenly opened up. The high atrium provided natural lighting, and the curved lines of the corridor carried the charm of last century decorative arts. The front desk is open 24 hours a day, and the electronic ID card can be processed in three minutes. It reminded me that "the first round of mini bar cola and Sprite is free" and helped me extend the refund to 14:00. It is very friendly to people on the high-speed train at 3pm in the afternoon.
I am staying in a deluxe king size bed, approximately 32 square meters, with a wooden tone that leans towards the stability of an 'old Shanghai business hotel' overall. The hardware does have a sense of age: the air conditioning occasionally has a heavy cooling effect, the shower water volume is not very strong, but it is maintained online - the linen is clean, the bathroom is bright, the makeup mirror is pleasing, some room types are equipped with smart toilet seats, small refrigerators, safes, and ironing equipment are complete. What impressed me the most was the headboard control and sound insulation: after closing the window, the sound pressure in the hallway and on the road could be maintained, and even a light sleeper could sleep soundly throughout the night. A guest joked that the single room was "like a lonely novelist's room". My combination of a desk lamp and a desk is really suitable for flipping through two pages before going to bed.
Service is another bonus point. The night before, I casually asked about breakfast nearby, and the front desk recommended a local soup dumpling shop across the street; When checking out, I also received a box of Shanghai Butterfly Crispy, which is more comfortable than slogan style hospitality due to its unintentional details. The free parking lot is considered a scarce resource in the valuable land area of Huaihai Road, and is friendly to self driving; There is a simple gym on the 4th floor, and the top floor Xiafeige restaurant offers Chinese and Western buffet breakfast, which can be solved even if you are too lazy to walk far.Show more
